How to recover unsaved WPS Office files
Restart first. Then Auto Backup. Then Cloud Recycle Bin. Do not run a disk cleaner on Kingsoft folders until you copy the backups out.
Step 1
Relaunch WPS Office
If a backup prompt appears, open it and immediately Save As to Documents. Do not keep editing the untitled window as your only copy.
Step 2
Use Auto Backup
Writer example: Menu, Backup and Recovery, Auto Backup, View Details. Free backups are often kept about 30 days. Open the newest copy and Save As under a new name.
Step 3
Check Cloud Recycle Bin
Home, Open, Recycle Bin for cloud deletes. This only helps files that were in WPS Cloud. Then keep a local copy of invoices and theses anyway.
Step 4
Turn Auto Backup on for next time
Do this before the next long essay, not after. Cloud sync is not a substitute for Save As on a thesis.
Do not wipe backup folders first
Disk cleaners can delete Kingsoft backup folders. Copy anything named backup or autorecover to Documents before you “speed up” the PC. Prevention: cloud sync.
